This week marked another important milestone for Movu as we hosted our first international customer event at a customer site and for the first time, we co-hosted this event with our strategic partner, Körber.
Over 60 customers from across Europe gathered at the state-of-the-art Westhof BIO facility in the north of Germany to experience firsthand the power of cutting-edge automation in cold storage logistics.
A State-of-the-Art facility
Westhof BIO, Europe’s largest organic vegetable freezer, entrusted Movu and Körber to deliver a highly complex and scalable deep-freeze warehouse solution designed to meet the increasing demand for organic produce. The facility features:
- More than 5,000 pallet positions, maximizing storage density in a stow silo warehouse
- 6 Movu atlas pallet shuttles operating seamlessly across six racking levels
- A remarkable throughput of 60 pallet storage and retrieval operations per hour
- Operation under ultra-low temperatures of -24°C, ensuring optimal preservation of organic vegetables
Event highlights
The day kicked off with expert presentations that outlined the project scope, technical challenges, and innovative solutions delivered through the close collaboration between Movu and Körber. Attendees gained insights into the integration of automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS) within a climate-controlled environment and how these solutions enhance efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
Following the presentations, guests enjoyed immersive live tours of the automated cold store. This behind-the-scenes look showcased the Movu atlas pallet shuttles in action, demonstrating precision, speed, and reliability even in the demanding conditions of a deep-freeze warehouse.
The event concluded with a dynamic panel discussion featuring industry experts and partners who shared perspectives on the future of logistics automation in the food and beverage sector.
