Due to a phase of significant growth, DKSH, the leading Market Expansion Services provider, needed a purpose-built distribution centre (DC) and storage system that could service its technology client’s distribution and logistics requirements, and that reflected the quality and values of the DKSH business.
DKSH leased a 6490 square metre greenfield DC in Braeside, Victoria, from Frasers Property which, after a detailed tender process, chose to partner with stow Australia to deliver the storage solution.
stow, a leading supplier of pallet racking, is renowned for the quality of its rack and speed of supply – continuously holding over 20,000 pallet locations in its Truganina DC. This ability to deliver and install quality product quickly and safely – and during the DC’s construction phase – was the reason stow was chosen as DKSH’s storage solution partner.
A tight timeline during challenging times
stow was engaged in March 2020 to supply and install 4,314 pallets of Selective Racking across 376 bays in DKSH’s new DC in Braeside, recommending Selective Racking as the appropriate storage solution due to its ability to accommodate goods of all sizes and weights, and to give access to all pallets at all times.
The installation commenced on 26 March, with only a two-week time frame for completion.
Frasers Property had offered pallet racking as an inclusion in DKSH’s purchase of the DC, meaning that it was a full construction site during the racking fit-out. Not only would this require expertise in working with multiple stakeholders such as the builder, client and unions, the project had to be accomplished under Covid-19 safe operating conditions.
Martin Bates, stow’s National Sales Manager, said: ‘The COVID-19 safety guidelines were evolving all the time during the project. stow’s highly-experienced installation team rose to the occasion, implementing additional on-site precautions that adhered to government policy, ensured the safety of personnel, and met the project’s tight timeline.’
The greatest challenge on the DKSH project, however, was the tight delivery timeframe. With the racking already in stock in its DC in Truganina, stow was able to pre-assemble the Selective Racking frames, shipping them to site in Braeside on a daily basis and thereby meeting the required timeline.
