Pallet Racking distribution centre

When a massive typhoon hit the South China Sea late last year, the vessel stow had booked for material delivery was caught in the storm. The ship was held at bay for 2 weeks, jeopardising the timing for stow to complete construction at TTI’s new Sydney DC.

Despite this, stow did everything possible to get construction completed on time and as promised.

Once the materials arrived, stow’s Managing Director Paul Johnson personally attended the construction site to ensure all was done as quickly as possible. stow’s installation team worked 10 hour days and Saturday shifts to get the job back on schedule as originally agreed. Thanks to this commitment, construction was successfully completed within the short 8-week build time.

TTI's Chief Financial Officer, Grant Edhouse said, “We were very pleased with the way stow quickly reacted in order to pull in more resources, enabling an on-time delivery of the finished product.”

stow Australia installed a multi-faceted warehouse storage system to accommodate for TTI’s national product distribution centre. TTI is a world-leading supplier of Power Tools, Outdoor and Floor Care products, with powerful brands. TTI’s professional power tool Division, Milwaukee, had their Job Site Solutions (“JSS”) team work with stow’s installers to equip them with Milwaukee tools, which were used throughout construction. stow’s national installation teams are now all equipped with Milwaukee tools.

TTI’s Managing Director, Mike Brendle was keen to move into the new DC in order to take advantage of improved efficiencies, brought about by the storage solutions being installed by stow. stow’s construction was completed successfully at the end of October 2015, whilst the facility was still technically a construction site.

“We were keen to realise the benefits of our new facility as quickly as possible given we had outgrown our old DC. So it was great to have consistent communication with Paul Johnson and his team to get it done on time.”Managing Director, Mike Brendle.

The Eastern Creek site is over 40,000 sq. meters in area, a substantial space to support TTI’s continuous growth in Australia. The national DC includes over 52,000 pallet positions, featuring a combination of Drive InSelectiveCarton Live Storage and Double Deep racking.

A key feature of the warehouse is the Multi-Tier Raised Storage Area, with an Automated Conveyor System implemented to streamline picking. With 10,000+ picking bins, the area is ideal for spare parts processing.
